HAMBURG, 22ND - 27TH AUGUST 2020

Alexander Breitenbach

Germany

Born in 1997, pianist Alexander Breitenbach began his training with piano instructor Evelyn Rück at the Fritz Busch Music School in Siegen (Germany) in 2004. Since 2015 he has studied at the Cologne College of Music Dance in the class of prof. Dr. Florence Millet. Besides giving recitals as a solo pianist, he actively performs in the field of chamber music and song accompaniment.

Already at an early stage he participated successfully in national and international competitions and masterclasses. Thus he won first prizes several times at Jugend musiziert, the van Bremen Piano Competition, and the International Grotrian Steinweg Piano Competition. Moreover, he is a scholarship holder of the Richard Wagner Society and Yehudi Menuhin Live Music Now.

As a soloist he played with the Sinfonieorchester Wuppertal, the Philharmonie Südwestfalen and as winner of a selection contest with the Orchestra of the Cologne College of Music.

As a substantial part of his studies, Alexander Breitenbach occupied himself intensively with ostracized composers, in particular with Ernst Bachrich, whose works he recorded with the label EDA records and Deutschlandfunk Kultur.
